About Lexie’s Legacy

Lexie was a kind, compassionate person that would do anything for her friends and family. She had a radiant personality and a beautiful smile that would brighten up even the darkest room. At the young age of 25 years old, Lexie was diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma brain cancer. As you can imagine, this was a heartbreaking and scary diagnoses for our dear friend. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor and started treatment to rid her body of the cancer.

Throughout out her journey at UW Hospital in Madison she encountered several families with children going through treatment.
She brainstormed on ways to help these families and put together her first toy drive. All toys received from this event were donated to a local nonprofit organization in Madison; the Levy Giving Fund who disbursed the toys to organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House – Madison, Toys for Tots, and Gio’s Garden. Lexie was able to run this fundraiser for two years before her passing on February 15th 2015.
When Lexie passed away, we wanted to do something special to keep her memory alive so us girls started Lexie’s Legacy Foundation to honor our dear friend. Lexie’s Legacy is a local 501c3 that raises money to support children’s needs within our local community. We were established in 2015 and kicked off our first year with an Annual Toy Drive to honor Lexie and the joy, love and kindness that she put into our community.
Lexie was attending UW-Whitewater when she first received her diagnoses. At this time, she was furthering her education and aspiring towards graduating with a degree in Nursing. In 2020, we decided to create a Scholarship Fund as an honor to our dear friend, Lexie. Since inception, we have awarded two scholarships and have goals of contributing to the education of many more scholarship recipients in the future.

Over the past eight years, Lexie’s Legacy Foundation has donated over $153,000 to support children’s needs within our local community. Without the support from our local community, all of this would not have been possible. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity over the years!!! By working together, we can make our world a better place!
